Substance & Style With Demi Moore

Could be latex, probably more like leather, maybe even some PVC. Whatever the case may be, the stunning stylings Demi Moore is wearing in her latest interview in Interview Magazine are so worth checking out.

As is the interesting Q&A conducted by Academy-Award-winning actress, Michelle Yeoh.

In the piece Moore and Yeoh expound on the stifling but so pervasive ageism that finds women actors of a certain age and how both Moore and Yeoh have battled it. As this is an interview with Moore as the subject, what the ladies end up discussing most is Demi Moore’s new movie The Substance, what’s being called a ‘boy-horror’ thriller and how in the movie, 61-year-old Moore bares all, attempting to get back her youth.

Playing Elisabeth Sparkle, described as “a fading Hollywood beauty,” Moore gets involved with a black-market drug that has the desired effect of turning back her aging, but in a chilling way. In the ensuing roller coaster ride of the satire/horror and wonderful erotic mess (all in a good way) that “The Substance” is, we see more of Moore than we have in a long time or most female actors of a certain age will dare show.

But as she says in the interview about her image and using the movie to challenge the idea of what a performer of her age should and should not do, “What it’s really about is what we do to ourselves, and I loved that it was illustrated in such a physical way—showing that violence with what we do with our thoughts, how we attack ourselves and distort things. There’s great power in knowing that what we do to ourselves is a choice, and we can make a different choice,” Moore relates.

The above could be taken to heart over the couture we all chose to wear as well.

And the choices of what Moore wears in the magazine, as mentioned, are pretty fantastic. As alternative as classic we see her in a corset dress by Schiaparelli Couture, sporting outrageous leg design. A geometrically challenging black oversized jacket, maybe leather, maybe latex, maybe…? And a Versace shirt and sweater.

And as Demi Moore always has, she comes across as the icon she is in her variety of looks.

More Moore, we say.

“The Substance,” opens 9/20.
