Surely, there’s not a latex shirt to be found in this recent Etsy offering. But ‘Pharmacy Halloween’ shirts? It’s an interesting collection to be sure, and not one we had been privy to before. So, as we wrap up this month of Halloween costumes of all stripes (yes, more blogs are coming that cover the subject), we present some surely ‘alternative’ offerings — and we use the word ‘alternative’ very loosely — based on our experiences this past year.
Scouring costume offerings for 2025, we found a “Katy Perry Going Into Space” costume. One can easily create a bespoke offering of the couture worn during this 2025 cultural touchstone moment of Jeff Bezos’ NS-31 mission—helmet, one-piece blue jumper—where Katy was one of six ladies who blasted off from our “wonderful world’ that day.
As we mentioned in our first blog about costumes this year, the infamous “Coldplay Couple” makes for the perfect couple’s costume. Again, one can make it themselves; the couple in question was dressed rather simply when they were caught on the ‘Kiss Cam.’ Beyond the costume, the people involved need merely canoodle as they trick or treat or attend a party.
As surely as the world undergoes some interesting (alternative?) changes presently, one might don a cardboard Gulf of America and go as the newly renamed territory. Timely, political, and so 2025? Yes, we saw this offered as well.
There is also the question of whether AI-generated costume creations might be featured this year, and what they would look like. Plus, for a truly unusual (alternative) highly-publicized costume reveal, we can once again count on Heidi Klum to trot out some wild costume.
