The 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show: Firsts, Model Returns and…Cher

There was even some latex couture on display, as much as wings, lace, iconic models, Cher, and lots of firsts, all at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Happening this week in NYC and broadcast on Amazon Live, Prime Video, and across VS YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, by all accounts, this inclusive rebranding overhaul revival worked for VS, which had not managed a show like this since 2018.

Those firsts included Ashley Graham representing the “power of body positivity,” as mentioned here. This is the first time the 36-year-old supermodel walked for the VS, strutting her fantastic curves in an all-black lace bodysuit and matching robe. In an Instagram post she made at the beginning of October Graham said about her appearance, “I am over the moon excited because I am in my late 30s, I just had three children, and I am feeling so curvy and so sexy and my outfit is fire.”

Another first was twenty-somethings Valentina Sampaio and Alex Consani, who made history as the first trans models to walk for VS. Castigated in the past over what many bemoaned was the brand’s exclusivity on many levels, Victoria’s Secret seemed to be making headway toward trying to include all kinds of folks in this year’s show.

Kate Moss also appeared here for the first time at a VS show. Her daughter, Lila Moss, also showed.

Returns included model Adriana Lima coming back under the angel wings after announcing her retirement six years ago. She closed the first half of the show in crystal bra and undies, plaid tights, and wings. She’d return later for Cher’s performance.

Speaking of Cher’s musical turn, the 78-year pop icon sang hits “Strong Enough” and “Believe,” dressed in all black. The other performers (in another first of all-female musicians for this night) included a global array of K-pop star Lisa, South African singer Tyla, and Australian guitarist Orianthi.

But in what could be seen as the most striking moment, and surely a return that ended the show, Tyra Banks popped up from under the stage, rocking a latex outfit of long sleeves, leggings, and silver bodice. Accessorizing with a matching metallic cape, the iconic supermodel, mogul, and media personality was joined by the VS angels to conclude a job well done.

Victoria’s Secret wrote on their Instagram page prior to the show:

“The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is BACK and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love—the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment, and more! Stay tuned…it only gets more iconic from here.”
