Does the usual axiom “It’s an honor just to be nominated” apply to latex designers as much as it does the actors at the Academy Awards? It looks like we all will soon see as we just read that the inaugural Latex Fashion Awards, that we first reported on here, has now revealed the categories for nominees to fill and eventually a winner to grab a ‘Glossy’ award.
As the organizers of the awards tell us “The categories have been specifically chosen to highlight the achievements of the latex clothing community, spotlighting creative talent and celebrating its impact on the fashion industry globally. The public nominations for that creative talent is to open in the coming weeks.
These categories include:
Best Online Shopping Experience, which will celebrate a latex seller’s site, it’s navigation, searchability; how informative its product descriptions are, the quality of its photographs. The Latex Fashion Awards will not recognize Etsy or eBay in this category. There will be a Newcomer or Emerging Designer of the Year named. To qualify the designer who wins must have launched their brand within the past year-and-a-half. This category should not be confused with Best New Collection. The collection must also have been launched in the past eighteen months.
Recognizing broadcast, movie or streaming fashion moments, there will be a Best Latex Fashion Featured in a Movie, TV Series or Music Video winner named. Again, the media in question, must have been released in the past year-and-half.
As to be expected, a Best Latex Fashion Model of the Year will be named, somebody who made the biggest global impact in latex couture within the past year, a Best Masc-Style Designer of the Year will be named for the leading latex masc/menswear designer, as well as a Best Femme-Style Designer of the Year. And The Fan Favorite Award – Best Celebrity Latex Outfit designer is considered the most prestigious win by the organizers here, voted as it will be by the fans.
