We surely have enjoyed a good amount of celebrated latex outfits. From Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Thierry Mugler dress. To both Michelle Pfeiffer and Zoe Kravitz sporting a black latex catsuit in their take on Catwoman. And then there was the military-inspired latex mini, Katy Perry wore in 2010 at the VH1 Divas Salute The Troops. Not to mention all the latex someone like Lady Gaga has been known to appear in from time to time.
Reminding us of a simple, yet popular 90s wardrobe choice, (though not made of latex) Carmen Electra took to Instagram this week, wearing her own iconic style…her red Baywatch swimsuit. Posing from a lifeguard hut in various ways, Carmen titled the posts, “Baywatch 2026 ❣️,” She might be simply celebrating the supposed reboot of the show coming to Fox this year. She also could be subtly suggesting she wants another stab at the series. Or Carmen might actually be coming back as Lani McKenzie in the new run.
Although Electra has let it be known in countless interviews that if she ever did return, she’d want less scenes in the water as they always left her just too cold.
Carmen has had a good long history with Baywatch. She played Candy in the show’s spin off Baywatch Nights, in the episode Epilogue, then went on the play the part she was most known for on the show, lifeguard Lelani “Lani” McKenzie from 1997-1998. She was also in the show’s TV movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding, which premiered in 2003.
As far as the iconic red suit goes, it seems a variety of them were used in the show, each tailored to each actress. The leading color expertise source, Pantone actually created a proprietary red shade for the suit that they named in 2019 “Baywatch Red” a special Pantone color shade.
