Our WOW Win Featured On The Wear Latex Website

We have been to the wonderful Wear Latex site often, to keep up on what’s happening with our favorite textile, what’s being seen across red carpets, runways, events and who is wearing what wear where. At the beginning of this month, Wear Latex ran this wonderful piece about us winning the World of Wearable Art Supreme WOW Award. We wanted to thank the fantastic people at Wear Latex, share their piece with you, and prompt you to visit the site as often as you can.

As you’ll see above, the article is replete with great pictures from the WOW event, showcasing our winning entry “Tsukumogami.” The description of our latex outfit and insights into its construction and concept are spot on (not that we had any doubt they would be given this is a site about…wearing latex!) From them mentioning how Ben and I based the concept of Tsukumogami on “well-loved household objects becoming imbued with a spirit after long years of use and care,” to how we surely regard our blue and white ceramic vases rendered as “living entities.”

The pictures and video you see are from the World of Wearable Art’s Instagram page (see here), and I recommend checking this out as well.

What’s also neat, though I have to admit I blush a bit when I see myself like this, is the YouTube capture interview I did about winning the award. It’s no surprise I am positively beaming with excitement, “breathless,” as I admit at the beginning of the clip, so very humbled and just blown away as much with us winning the award as with the WOW show stage presentation.

But then, every year, I am blown away by the WOW show!

I must say there is a part of the video I think bears repeating, even if I say so myself. This is at the crux of what Ben and I do, as much as what I would want for you all: “Work on something that comes from your heart, because in the end that’s what life is all about, to create, to love and to make something beautiful that didn’t exist in the world before.”

Thank you again to World of Wearable Art and surely to Wear Latex for highlighting our win at WOW.
