Latex capes, lacey undies worn outside, gloves, hats, masks, and all manner of cosplay accessories…Halloween 2025 couture is coming. Websites from Better Home & Gardens to ones featuring “spicy” lingerie to the ubiquitous American holiday superstore Spirit Halloween, parodied in a recent SNL mockmercial, are weighing in early with their predictions on the most popular costumes for Halloween 2025.
Be it for adults or children (and quite often these days costumes cross both categories) we find this year’s costume choices broken down into specific categories: pop culture, nostalgia, and scares.
For the true horror ‘scares’ fan, there is always the various masks and costumes from classic monster films like Frankenstein, various types of witches…sexy for adults, classic floppy hat versions for kids. And thrown into mainstream popularity last year as they were from the “Wicked” movie (and soon to be seen again in its sequel “Wicked: For Good” ), we are also sure to have plenty of Elphaba and Glinda knocking on our doors for candy. ‘Newer’ horror characters, such as Pennywise the Dancing Clown and the very popular Wednesday Addams, who is currently cutting a solo path in her popular Netflix series, will undoubtedly influence many viewers.
Cosplay, latex, PVC, and spandex will be in abundance to be sure, as they always are, in the ‘culture’ category, specifically from the worlds of movies, streaming, and comics. This year, the Fantastic Four is sure to be well represented, as will Superman and Supergirl (maybe even Krypto?). But then again, we are sure to see our share of Spiderman, Wonder Woman, and just about every other superhero one can think of.
“Star Wars” is sure to be well represented. And we are sure to see lots o KPop Demon Hunters and tracksuits to Front Man masks from “Squid Game.”
Nostalgia this year is said to be taking on the ’90s, as pretty much all decades have their day. Character costumes from the “Friends” cast, to friends Cher and Dionne from the movie “Clueless” are sure to make the cut.
On the more comical, timely side of things, we caught wind of two costumes for those couples who like to dress in something representing their union. We saw a costume called the Coldplay concert kiss cam couple, And don’t be surprised when you see people dressed in a costume called Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce (engaged version)…as well as plenty of solo Taylors.
Lastly, and another statement on the times, we also caught wind of a costume called Phillies Karen, which comes with a white wig, ripped jeans, and a replica Phillies pullover.
As these were early popular Halloween 2025 costume predictions, we are sure to be blogging about this specific point again, I’m sure. And certainly more costumes that are made of latex!
