We can rightly assume that any broadcast music/fashion/see-and-be-scene will engender the ubiquitous ‘after-party,’ where fashions could range from latex, lace, leather…and pretty much anything else. Celebrities usually take these after-event occasions to really let loose their wardrobe creativity, or at least show more skin than they can on broadcast TV. And from rooftop parties to private clubs to the well-publicized Sabrina Carpenter-hosted “Sabrina54,” held at the Crane Club, celebrities seemed to show off just as much, and even more, post the 2025 VMAS.
And in fabulous ways.
We thought a week well after the show, we might finally expound on various 2025 VMA After-Party couture.
Tate McRae, who stepped into the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in a white gown, took the Crane Club after-party in an all-black see-through outfit of crisscross halter, sheer long-sleeve body suit, with tight black high-waist briefs. Stylist Law Roach went see-through himself…wearing a sheer top under a shiny coat paired with leather pants. And Olandria Carthen’s sheer wardrobe was a bejeweled mini she accessorized with a garter and stockings.
Maria Carey, surely wowing the VMA audience and TV viewers just hours before, was strutting like the queen she is (prestigious “Video Vanguard Award” winner this night, plus winning for Best R&B) in a black leather minidress and motorcycle jacket.
Journey Montana, was also in black, wearing a cropped blazer and baggy pleated pants.
Sombr continued the Ricky Martin, Lenny Kravitz shirtless style, going bare underneath his embroidered blazer. Cardi B was caught by paparazzi leaving Chez Margaux in an animal-print dress. Rosé wore a white Dilara Findikoglu dress, sporting paper clip fringe. And FKA Twigs, who was surely daring and wild at the VMAs in her bespoke Matieres Fecales two-piece, wore a yellow top under a snakeskin jacket, thigh-high boots, and little shorts.
And since she threw that well attended and well publicized party, paying attention to what Sabrina Carpenter wore at her after-party seems especially appropriate. Wearing a black bodysuit under thick strips of pink, blue, and black floor length fabric with silver circular grommets attached, we all did a double-take: Carpenter was wearing the exact Bob Mackie outfit he created for Cher to wear on “The Cher Show” in 1975.
