In our last blog, we reported on the initial fashions we were seeing at the Venice Film Festival, latex couture or not (and so far, not). And although we have had Emma Stone, Julia Roberts, Cate Blanchett, and so many more showing off stunning wardrobes, once again Kim Kardashian has seemed to have ‘broken’ sartorial splendor.
Although we did have to wonder, ‘What if it had been made of latex?’ the outfit Kim wore recently (see above for a picture) for her honoring at the DVF awards was a Glenn Martens’ sheer gray drape-of-a-dress with purple undertones from Maison Margiela 2025 couture. The startling full-covering with its high neckline, cape trail, billowing sleeves, and wide trouser legs enveloped Kim’s curves in a reverse bodysuit fit for a startling display.
As we noted in the blog embedded above, we did see Kim come into Venice with her daughter North West, North herself dressed in some eye-popping couture. North’s mom’s appearance in the Maison Margiela on 8/28 saw Kim receive the DVF Leadership Award role in criminal justice reform. The award was presented Kim by Chris Young, a man she helped free from prison after serving over a decade for a low-level drug offense. Diane von Furstenberg and The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation founded The DVF Awards in 2010 to “recognize, support and amplify the voices of extraordinary women who are dedicated to improving the lives of other women.”
“I am truly humbled to have received the humanitarian award. Not for what I have done, but for the work that we all still have to do,” Kim posted across her Instagram. “The real honor was having Chris Young introduce me, standing there free!”
High celebrity, incredible net-breaking couture, an international film festival stage making note of good deeds. Really, what more could one ask for…
Do we still have time for a little latex?
