It’s as much the prerogative of a lady to change her mind, as to slip into what seems almost to be the same latex wardrobe more than once. Even if that lady happens to be Rihanna.
Attending Moncler’s “City of Genius” event in China last week, the music and fashion mogul, closed out the Shanghai Fashion Week festivities with A$AP Rocky. RiRi wore a skin-tight latex AWGE x Moncler catsuit to this event and as the blog o’sphere made plain, the wardrobe (latex and red color at least) reminded many of the red bespoke latex jumpsuit, leather bra breastplate and jacket Rihanna wore performing “What’s My Name?” (and others) during her Super Bowl LVII performance.
We all may recall that outfit also well revealed the singer’s pregnancy in early 2023.
This redux (if you will allow) that Rihanna wore last week is surely by a different designer than her Superbowl outfit and seems to take inspiration from flight gear as much as ski slope style. When unzipped, the catsuit revealed a cleavage-baring front, and RiRi accessorized with oversized black sunglasses, shiny black stilettos, and a diamond necklace, earrings, and rings—a different style and look from the belly-baring alt. style she wore at the Super Bowl.
Still, people made comparisons….you know how people are.
Other folks have been making comparisons of this latest Rihanna latex onesie to the iconic catsuit Britney Spears wore in her “Oops…I Did It Again” video.
No matter if she was paying homage to another diva pop, was enjoying a look-back to some latex couture she wore earlier, or is simply rocking red latex once again because she thinks it looks great on her (which it does) can we now all at least acknowledge the versatility of latex couture?
