All Those Changes And Not A Hint Of Latex?: Exploring The Couture of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

Ok, we weren’t really expecting any as she is mostly a fan of sparkling body suits, short sets, and ‘flapper-style’ dresses, but as any alternative fashion designer might, we had our fingers crossed that Taylor Swift might reveal some latex during the costume changes of her recently opened Eras Tour. Kicking off last Friday at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ, this “…journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!),” as the megastar described it was a 3-hour 44 song-strong presentation of Miss Swift’s music and wardrobe highlighting her career.

In her Atelier Versace bodysuit, accessorized by Christian Louboutin boots, the pop diva bedazzled the crowd with what she first wore and songs like “Lover” and “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince.” Fans of earlier Swift had to be familiar with her first change, into a Roberto Cavalli fringed flapper dress nodding back to similar couture she wore during her 2011 Speak Now tour.

With the song “Evermore,” Swift was dressed in an Etro gold chiffon corset gown. Then, adding an Etro green velvet cloak like she wore in the video for “Willow”…she performed “Willow.”

Again, wearing Roberto Cavalli, this time Swift sported an asymmetrical bodysuit from the designer. This bodysuit sported a sparkling red snake down its front and one bare leg. Then in a Nicole + Felicia Couture ballgown and then later wearing a black wide-brim hat and a sequined T-shirt, she added a scarlet-and-black sequined coat.

Wearing a bespoke Alberta Ferretti gown with big sleeves, plunging neckline, and lacy accents, Swift changed again, Then later she sang “Style,” “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off,” “Wildest Dreams” and “Bad Blood,” Swift in an embellished two-piece.

Yes, once again, designed by Roberto Cavalli.

Taylor Swift closed out her show in what might call her “signature” beaded bodysuit style, this last created by Oscar de la Renta.

Well, there’s no latex this time around, sad as that is for our favorite textile, but there is plenty of the brilliant, and surely fashionable, Taylor Swift on her new Eras Tour.
